Aluminium Bifold Doors

Aluminium is a hugely popular choice of frame for bifold doors. They are a more costly option compared to UPVC and timber but they are also more durable so are considered a cheaper investment long term. Aluminium is an incredibly strong product due to its chemical makeup and the way it is manufactured.

Unlike timber and UPVC frames aluminium is not susceptible to water leaks or warping. UPVC can degenerate when exposed to strong sunlight and over time frames can discolour and fade. In addition the performance of UPVC doors can be effected after prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions, causing warping and potentially heat loss and reduced energy efficiency. Similarly timber frames can degenerate after exposure to extreme weather and over time. Without regular maintenance timber frames will struggle to look good aesthetically and eventually if warping occurs there will be problems regarding reduced performance and energy efficiency.

Aluminium Bifold doors are strong, light and have thinner frames, giving you more glass which provide an increased view and allow more light in to your property. The ability to have wider panels also means your design can have less panels without compromising security or performance.  

Maintenance

Aluminium bifold doors are very low maintenance, especially compared to timber, they only need a general wipe down with soapy water when required which is a key feature for this choice of door.

Energy Efficient

Modern aluminium bifold doors have a thermal break included within their build as standard. This causes heat to be retained inside while cold air remains outside. Alongside latest advances in double glazing these features all ensure maximised thermal efficiency.

Aesthetics

There is a wide range of finishes available. Powder coating increases the longevity of the product further as well as helps to prevent scratches. There is a wide range in timber effect finishes which look incredibly realistic, and available in a wide range of colours which won’t fade over time.
